School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships
Wednesday, 04 June 2008

Hervey Bay SITE is a Local Community Partnership that has assisted young people with the school to work transitions since 1997. SITE is a “one stop shop” for Employers, Parents, Students, Schools and the Wider Community, we provide a central location for recruitment, work experience and career information services. To address our current industry issues such as increasing skill shortage areas we need to start preparing our next generation of employees. What better then to start this process while they are still in high school and mould our young people into successful adults.

What are School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships?
  • A School Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship allows secondary school students to work as a paid employee whilst studying for the Queensland Certificate of Education and the National Recognised Qualification in your workplace
  • There are over 700 different Apprenticeships and Traineeships available in Queensland
  • This program is primarily designed for year 11 and 12 students and must impact their school timetable
  • Incentives are available to employers of up to $4000.00 and more in some circumstances
  • A Supervising Registered Training Organisation will provide the training and materials to the young person for the qualification they are undertaking
  • The young person has to work a minimum of 48 days of the year and is classed as a casual employee
  • After incentives you can employ a school Based Apprentice or Trainee for around $30 per day

Nyree Honeyman and the SITE team are keen to support employer, parent/guardian, school and student needs by striving to get the best possible employment and training outcomes for all concerned. If you would like more information on School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships and our wide range of services, simply contactus on 41242571 or pay us a visit and have a cuppa at our Head Office at 5 Imelda St Pialba.
